Welcome to the 11th installment of Rick’s Radio Show for Radio Turia. This show has a focus on summer, summer vacation, summer love and stuff like that. This is rock that moves you with the emotions of summer. Listen to the tracks as they tell you a story.

Just a word to make sure you know that there is a website for all this at RicksRadio.com. You can find all the information about these shows there and complete play lists that have just about all the information I give on radio plus it is translated to Spanish for all my fans in Spain. Big shout out to Radio Turia for bringing this show live to the Valencia province.

For today’s show I am starting with one of the most famous bands of the 60’s – The Beatles. What better to make our way into summer vacation than from the amazing songs from The Beatles. So I present to you,

The Beatles – Day Tripper

Next up is an interesting track from Joe Satriani. You might remember Satriani’s guitar work in recordings of Deep Purple as well as on his own releases.  This song is about going off to the beach for a day and for that reason I picked this next song. So I present to you Joe Satriani and his “Day At The Beach.”

Joe Satriani – Day At The Beach

Wow, I have a really great band to introduce you to next. The band is The Woogles and they hail from Texas. The Woogles are a high energy rock group who have not only played back in the day but still tour! They did a series of concerts here in Spain in 2008 and I really hope they come back. I will continue to give you a few tracks on my shows so you can get to know them better. For now I will just present to you,

The Woggles – Hi Hi Pretty Girl

So, are you picking up on the theme for this show yet? Watch the songs and how they wind you though the summer.

Next up are the Push Kings. The Push Kings were a great band whose day never seemed to come. I am not sure what happened to them. Their sweet pop music blends perfectly with The Beatles and the band consists of brothers who have a great look on stage. I am proud to present to you,

The Push Kings – Love In My Heart

Continuing on with my summer themes I have picked the next step in any summer vacation. So first is the trip, then the beach, then hi to the pretty girls, and of course love is in your heart now I present the next summer reality from The Beatles with,

The Beatles – All You Need Is Love

Great one there because the next track extrapolates a bit more on the theme I have put together here. The next band is Paul Revere And The Raiders who brought their music live to teens all across American in the early 60’s. Simple songs with great presentation and memorable lyrics brought this band to the front line of rock music. I present to you,

Paul Revere And The Raiders – Hungry

Are you hungry for that good time feeling? Gotta get with the summer theme already! Summer can be really cool as everyone tries to chill out somehow and somewhere. Well my next track is all about chilling in the summer. I present to you,

Richard Black – Blue Ice Summer

Well, we are hitting mid point in the show so I am going to move closer to the blues. You may wonder why but listen to the songs as they tell the story of summer travel, love, and onward. I present to you

Eric Clapton Walking Blues

That’s all there is to say and Eric sells it all with the most amazing guitar work. Love that guy. So we move on with the show with a track from another blues giant, John Primer. I love being born in Chicago and my background in the music there let’s me enjoy the blues like no other. So the next step in any summer theme is picking the girl who just does not want to be picked. I present to you

John Primer – She Won’t Gimme No Love

Ahh, we have all been there John, so testify! Great song.

Now many faced with similar situations bend to the outside forces and submit to the blues. Who better to bring us there than Carey Bell. Carey, if you remember is the great blues Harpist from Chicago and his hold on the instrument cannot be beat. I present to you,

Carey Bell – When I Get Drunk

Yeah, that’s what happens when you lose your opportunities so sing it out Mr. Bell.

After that midnight drinking bash you might wake up to check yourself out. How did you do with the summer love rejections. I have a great pick me up song for this and the next track is by The Who. Powerful and filled with energy this original track from the early 60’s says it all. I am proud to present to you,

The Who – The Kids Are Alright

Are the kids alright? Well I guess they are and how can we tell?

I remember the summer vacations, the fun, the new people, new girlfriends and new experiences. It was all so wonderful. Today it is different yet the same. Everyday is a wonder and each one brings new experiences. I go out a lot more in the summer and all the time at the beach, in the pool or doing something cool. Not so different to when I was a young man. So with that in mind I present my next track from the fabulous Eric Burdon and the Animals,

Eric Burdon – When I was Younger

After that we just have to be at the party and who better to party with than John Lennon. John was truly a rocker and if you want to rock with John let’s do it with his cover songs. I present to you,

John Lennon – Be Bop A Luba

Let’s tie all that good music and summer theme together with the bad boy himself – George Thorogood. George rocks and nothing says it better than George Thorogood and the Destroyers, so I present to you,

George Thorogood – Who Do You Love

I hope you enjoyed todays show as we wound our way through a great summer trip with it. Going through all the phases and shifts of sand one might find in one amazing summer. If you just check out the titles to the songs you can see the theme, at least I hope so. Rockers forever.

That’s all the time I have right now and it is now time to close the show. I want to thank everyone for making this show possible and to the great artists who played the music. Remember that everything about this show including this script is up on RicksRadio.com in both English and Spanish, so get on the site. Register and comment about the shows. Let me know what you like and what you want to hear more of. I have a pretty large collection of music and you will be hearing more of it as we go along.

Remember our summer shows are Wednesday from 9pm to 10pm and Fridays from 7pm to 8pm. Now all you have to do is tune in, turn on and be here now.
