Super Session Mike Bloomfield, Al Kooper, Steven Stills
Released: April 8, 2003
When Mike Bloomfield, Al Kooper, and Steven Stills came together to make Super Sessions no one really knew what would happen. Out of this meeting of the greats came this amazing album. With some of the smoothest blues I can remember Mike Bloomfield excelled and stood out with the cut “Really” and was included on my first show at Radio Turia.
Born Michael Bernard “Mike” Bloomfield was born July 28, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois and became one of the first popular music superstars of the 1960s. He got his reputation almost entirely on his instrumental prowess and rarely sang. Respected for his smooth blues guitar playing, Bloomfield knew and played with many of Chicago’s blues legends even before he achieved his own fame. He was one of the main influences of the 1960s revival of Chicago blues. In 2003 he was ranked at number 22 on Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.”
